8-7 thru 8-27 Recap of a busy few weeks

Well, the weather improved along with the fishing. We still had some funky days but as the month progressed the days got nicer and the bluefish came in.

On 8-7 I picked up Lincoln and his son and daughter on Chebeague that resulted with all 3 getting big slot fish and one that was over, we know who got he biggest.

The next few days were bad weather and tuff fishing.

8-13 a regular customer Jon and I went after bluefin tuna on the fly rod. Found some large fish (75-200#) busting up and down and got one good shot. Jon casted perfectly between 2 fish but did not get a take. We went out the next day for redemption but got fogged out once we got to the tuna grounds.

Bluefish time. 8-15 it began. Over the next week and a half all my trips hammered blues. Half we got on top water plugs that had multiple fish crushing the plugs and other days they would only take a live pogie, which they were keyed in on. Both methods are a blast because you can see the hits from multiple ferocious fish. Some of the people onboard included a family reunion for relatives from the Hamlin’s Marine family; the Wyoming trout boys got a big kick out of the power of the blues. George and his 2 boys Ryan (baldy) and Brandon (long hair) who saw live pogies get mauled and got a bonus show with giant tuna (400#+) cutting and porpoising through the schools of pogies.  An enlisted serviceman Scott and his brother kicked but with top water plugs and Scott even caught a few on my ultra light bait caster on a trip I donated as a thank you to our servicemen. Collin and his boy’s wacked em on top water and made a complete mess out of it with over 30 blues caught. The 22nd –24th I fished on a clients boat for the Downeast shark tournament and the Two Tide Tournament. I will write a separate report for that one (I will say that we came in 2nd for the Downeast tourney!)

Thanks to all the good crews.
