Met David and his brother in-law Pete at 0445 at Ferry Beach for a light tackle/fly fishing trip. David is a regular client and is one of my favorites. We seem to always have good adventures and the trip last year with he and Pete was tops (see report 7-26-07 I hurt myself today….). Another beautiful morning with a “Nova” like sunrise. We run into the pogies again and try to snag a few. No love, the schools were small and skittish. Didn’t waste much time chasing them and hit the ledge with Sluggos. The guys start to get some hits but don’t hook due to short strikes. Nice to see some fish around. David hooks up first and Pete continues to just miss fish. We pick up a few fish and try another location as things slow down. Our new location begins to produce and David switches to the fly rod and has a blast using the ugly black clouser to hook fish. Clouds moved in during the morning and we had a little drizzle that may have helped the fishing. The seas were FAC the whole morning. Great trip with a lot of laughs.
